The linked table above provides statewide historical information by court location on the number of criminal/motor vehicle cases added, disposed and pending for the past 20 state fiscal years. Please note, state fiscal years run from July 1st to June 30th.

The chart depicts information from State Fiscal Year 1994/1995 through State Fiscal Year 2014/2015. Criminal cases are either processed at the Judicial District locations (major felonies) or at the Geographical Area locations (other felonies and misdemeanors). Motor vehicle cases, depending on the severity of the crime, are processed either at the Geographical Area location, Judicial District location or paid directly to the Centralized Infractions Bureau.

  • Geographical Area Locations: Criminal Division
  • Geographical Area Locations: Motor Vehicle Cases

Note on Table Creation: The information in the tables comes from databases that are always being updated. As a result, the tables only show the information that was in the databases on the day they were created. Information in the databases can change because cases that were disposed at the time the table was created were later reopened, or because of the late entry of data. Because of this, all of the tables are created on the 5th business day after the close of the fiscal year.

  • Added case: A case that is entered into one of the Judicial Branch’s automated systems.
  • Disposed case: A case in which a decision has been made.
  • Claimed case: A case in which a party or the party’s attorney (in a civil or family case) enters a claim that a case be placed onto a trial list.
  • Fiscal year: July 1st through June 30th.
  • Pending case: A case in which a decision has not been made.
  • Basic work unit for the data is the docket number. An individual may have several cases/docket numbers in the system. Also, there may be several related offenses associated with a single docket number (case).
