The cutter heads for the Stehr manhole cutter are available in diameters from 18" to 55". MVE stocks the most common sizes for immediate shipment. Custom sizes are available upon special order.
The cutter heads are designed and built with quality and durability in mind. The tooth spacing and angling has been developed over the last 8 years to provide optimum wear and performance. The use of carbide teeth, in lieu of diamonds, provides a much faster cut and an edge which facilitates a better asphalt patch. The teeth are easily replaceable and inexpensive, compared to diamonds. Due to the dry cut nature of carbide teeth, water for cooling is not needed. The flights provided along the barrel of the bit transport the cuttings from the hole. Due to the low speed of rotation of the cutter, this is accomplished almost dust free.
The hex shaft coupler gives a positive, slip free connection that performs under all extremes. Simplicity of this design allows for quick changes of bits when different diameters are needed, usually within a couple of minutes with trained personnel.

Concerning the wear on the average about 40 drillings with one set of teeth are possible. This depends on the material(asphalt, concrete, etc)
